APERS Key Safe
Access to your home when you need it
The APERS Keysafe keeps your keys in a protected, safe and secure location outside your home so emergency services or support workers can gain access into your home to help you when you need assistance.
The Keysafe is mounted to a nearby exterior wall or fence on your property, in a non-obvious secret location. A backup version of your main house keys are securely stored inside. Both the wall-mount and the padlock are durable steel and can only be opened using the keypad pin number. In an emergency, first responders need fast access into your home; we provide them with the pin number, so they can gain entry.

APERS Key Safes allow Emergency access to your home when you need it
Peace of mind at the door. An APERS Key Safe stores a spare key in a secure, discreet lockbox outside your home so trusted responders can enter quickly during an emergency, without damaging your door.
Built for Australian conditions. The steel body, protective dust cover and weather shield help protect your keys from rain and dust. The mechanical keypad needs no batteries and is simple to use.
Works with APERS 24/7 monitoring. When your APERS Home Companion or Freedom Friend is activated, our 24/7 Care Team can share your Key Safe PIN and location with verified emergency services or your nominated contacts, so they can gain access into your home as fast as possible, to help as quickly as possible. In an emergency, this can make all the difference!
In a life-threatening emergency, attending paramedics, and where required police or fire, are lawfully empowered to force entry if they reasonably believe someone inside needs urgent care. APERS helps prevent damage by securely holding your Key Safe PIN and installation location. During an active incident we provide these details to emergency services or the authorised contact named in your response plan, so responders can enter quickly without causing damage.

FAQ's
Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions, please contact us. Our friendly team are here to assist.
There are cheaper key safes on the market. Why should I choose yours?
We supply ABUS Key Safes (also know as Key Boxes) because they are engineered to perform when it counts. Cheaper keysafes often seize up, corrode or crack when outside in the weather. ABUS units use high quality materials, precise mechanisms and proven coatings, so your keysafe opens smoothly when you need it. It is the brand we have trusted for many years.
How secure is a Key Safe compared with hiding a spare key?
A quality Key Safe is far safer than leaving a key under a mat or in a pot plant. Only people you authorise can gain access, because the code is set by you and can be changed at any time.
Who can access my Key Safe?
Only trusted parties with the PIN can open it. During an incident, APERS will share your code with emergency services or your nominated contacts.
Is the keypad electronic?
No. It is a mechanical push‑button lock, so there are no batteries to replace.
Can I change the PIN myself?
Yes. You can change your code at any time using the internal change key. Just remember to let us know so we can update the new details.
How long can the PIN be?
Between 4 and 10 digits.
Is it weatherproof?
Yes, The keysafe includes a protective cover for weather and dust. For coastal or harsh environments, we recommend more frequent maintenance checks.
What size keys fit inside?
Most standard house keys. Check the Specifications for internal dimensions before purchase. We do not recommend storing garage remotes as the battery may be flat when it is needed to be used.
Will it damage my wall or fence?
Mounting requires drilling for the wall‑mount unit. The padlock model avoids drilling.
Can tradies or carers use it?
Yes. You can share the code with trusted visitors or family. You can also change the PIN at anytime.
Does it integrate with APERS monitoring?
Yes. Your PIN and installation location are recorded on your APERS monitoring profile so our Care Team can provide access details during emergencies.
