Lone Worker Safety Alarm Solutions
Being prepared for the unknowns of working alone.
Keep your employees, yourself and your loved-ones safe 24/7
At APERS, we help anyone who works alone or spends time alone doing any activity that could result in an emergency situation, where you or someone you might know may need help quickly. Our Safety Mate devices are easy-to-use, highly effective and an ideal lone-worker safety solution.
Our Safety Mate products are designed specifically for people who work alone, travel solo, or operate in potentially hazardous environments. Even seemingly innocuous situations can become dangerous.
These mobile personal emergency response alert devices are also ideal for in-home care employees & nurses, and anyone in any industry where you might be working independently or off-site. They are also of benefit to youth.
Our lone worker personal alert alarm devices are available to buy or rent.
Why Lone Worker Safety Matters:
Working alone means facing risks without immediate backup. When a worker experiences a fall, health episode, or threatening situation, seconds count. Employers have a duty of care under Australian WHS legislation to manage the risks associated with working alone. Our lone-worker safety alarms are purpose-built to support that responsibility and help organisations, businesses and companies meet compliance obligations while protecting their people.
Fall Detection
Sometimes a fall can leave you unable to reach for help. With optional fall detection, your pendant or watch can automatically alert our Care Team, making sure that assistance is on the way when you need it most.
Workplace Health and Safety
Every employer has a legal and moral responsibility to keep their people safe. We have developed a range of mobile emergency personal alert device options to suit different workplaces and situations — all supported by our trusted 24/7 monitoring Care Team.
Each device is backed by our A-Graded Monitoring Centre, which meets AS2201.2:2022 Alarm and Electronic Security Systems standards. This means emergency activations are actioned within the standard’s strict fast timeframes, ensuring rapid assistance when every moment matters.
Our lone-worker personal alarm systems & devices help organisations, businesses and companies strengthen their WHS frameworks, demonstrate proactive risk management, and provide employees with an extra layer of protection in unpredictable environments.
Responding to Real-World Risks
Lone workers face a variety of risks every day, including but not limited to aggression from clients or the public, vehicle incidents, medical emergencies, and working at heights or in remote areas. Without immediate access to help, even minor incidents can become life-threatening.
Our APERS Safety Mate personal alarm devices provide reliable communication, real-time location tracking, and direct access to trained 24/7 Care Team responders so no worker is ever truly alone, no matter where their job takes them.
Youth Safety
Some of us grew up on farms. When we think back to our own childhoods working alone cutting firewood, collecting eggs, piling hay bales, walking through dimly lit cluttered old sheds, etc, we wish we had access to these devices back then.
We all know that child injuries can and do occur on farms.
We also think of all the people we know who have been bitten by snakes in recent years. When a snake bites, fast emergency assistance is critical.
Our devices give parents and guardians confidence that their children or young workers can access immediate help in case of an accident, permitting there is 4G connectivity. The APERS Safety Mate Pendant or Wrist Watch products allows fast connection to our 24/7 Care Team, who can notify emergency services and provide location details instantly via GPS technology.
This of course, all applies to workers of any age, not just the young.
Managing Isolation and Communication Gaps
Working alone often means there’s no immediate backup or witness if something goes wrong. In remote areas, private homes, or large facilities, communication delays can significantly increase the risk of harm. The APERS Safety Mate helps bridge that gap by providing an instant, reliable link to assistance through a simple one-press SOS button.
24/7 Help
With one button press you can call for help anytime you need it. Our highly trained Care Team will answer, talk and listen, then take action to make sure you get assistance as quickly as possible. Our Care Team has first-aid training and are available 24 hours a day, so you are never left waiting or unheard.
Unlike self-monitored systems, every APERS lone worker device connects directly to our professional 24/7 Care Team responders who can communicate, assess, and dispatch emergency services on your behalf. Even if you can’t speak, we can use location data to send the right help to the right place.

FAQ's
Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions, please contact us. Our friendly team are here to assist.
How does a lone worker alarm work?
When the SOS button is pressed (or fall detection is triggered), the device opens a two-way voice connection and sends your GPS location to our 24/7 Care Team, who then follow your response plan and contact emergency services or nominated contacts. More information about the Safety Mate is here.
What industries use lone worker alarms?
They’re used across aged care, health, real estate, social services, utilities, construction, education, and agriculture; plus anywhere staff might work alone, travel off-site, or visit clients’ homes.
Can it be used in remote or rural areas?
The device operates anywhere with 4G mobile coverage.
Do I need a mobile phone to use it?
No. The Safety Mate includes an in-built SIM and connects directly to our monitoring centre, no phone or separate app is required.
What if I can’t talk when I trigger an alarm?
If we receive an SOS but no verbal response, we treat it as an emergency. Our 24/7 monitoring Care Team uses GPS and Wi-Fi location data to send help immediately.
Does it support silent duress alerts?
Yes. A duress (silent) mode can be configured for workers in higher-risk environments, allowing a discreet call for help without drawing attention.
Is fall detection included?
It’s an optional feature that can be enabled for any device. When activated, the device detects a fall and automatically sends an alert if you don’t cancel it during the pre-alarm countdown.
How long does the battery last?
Depending on configuration and signal strength, the battery lasts between 20 and 48 hours. We recommend daily charging for regular users.
Can the device be worn discreetly?
Yes. The watch model looks like a regular smartwatch, ideal for workers who prefer a professional and unobtrusive design.
How accurate is the GPS tracking?
Typically within 3 to 5 metres outdoors. Indoors, the device uses Wi-Fi and network triangulation to estimate your location and will give an approximate area.
Does the alarm work after hours or overnight?
Yes. Monitoring is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including public holidays and weekends.
Can it be used by contractors or casual staff?
Absolutely. The system can be tailored for temporary or rotating workers, ensuring everyone has protection while on duty.
What happens if I accidentally press the button?
You can cancel the alert within a few seconds, or simply tell our Care Team it was an error. No penalties apply.
Where can I find more information about the Safety Mate product?
We have a dedicated page on our website all about the Safety Mate alert product system. It also has more information about both the Pendant and the Watch. You can also order these products online via that page.
