For Retirement Villages and Residential Aged Care

Australian PERS systems, devices and 24/7 monitoring. Additional care support for residents.

Further aiding support via customised solutions using assistive technology.

At APERS, we understand that Retirement Villages & Residential Aged Care Facilities require bespoke solutions to meet unique needs and requirements.

From independent living emergency response systems to higher-care settings, APERS provides 24/7 monitored personal alarms and on-site solutions that scale across villages and facilities, with reporting built for quality assurance and compliance.

Our village and facility-ready solutions include:

  • Home Companion for residents in independent living units. Pendant or wriststrap with two-way voice to our 24/7 Care Team. Optional fall detection on selected wearable devices.
  • Freedom Friend for residents who remain active beyond the village gates. 4G and GPS provide an approximate location when an alert is raised.
  • On-site accessories such as Key Safes for secure access, plus optional sensors for tailored needs.

We are independently audited and certified to the requirements of AS 2201.2:2022, the Australian Standard for Monitoring Centres. This benchmark goes significantly beyond AS 4607‑1999 the Standard for Personal Emergency Response Systems, setting stricter requirements in areas like response times, operator training, cybersecurity, data integrity, communication redundancy, and power backup systems.

Please also note:

Tailored to suit the specific needs of your residents. By having direct communication with our 24/7 APERS Care Team in an emergency, your residents will have comfort knowing that they will have support when they need it most.

Also reduce staff involvement with false alarms, to aid with increased efficiency and productivity. In turn, enabling your team to focus on increasing their level of overall personal care for the residents.

Fall Detection

Sometimes a fall can leave you unable to reach for help. With optional fall detection, your pendant can automatically alert our Care Team, making sure that assistance is on the way when you need it most.

Help where residents gather

Install the Fixed Wall-mount Help Buttons in high-use communal areas. Press to alert the APERS 24/7 Care Team through the linked Home Companion. We place buttons at accessible heights and map each button to your on-site response path. Wet-area suitability makes them ideal for pool and bathroom facilities.

Integrate with your existing solution

Have your own solution already? We can often connect to compatible village or facility alarm systems so you don’t have to start from scratch. Our team will:

  • Review your current hardware and monitoring set-up for compatibility
  • Recommend the simplest path, direct integration or staged replacement
  • Map your existing response paths and contacts into APERS monitoring
  • Consolidate reporting so incidents from old and new devices show in one place
  • Run a short pilot in one wing or building before broader rollout

If a full integration isn’t practical, we’ll propose a phased swap plan that avoids downtime and fits your budget cycles.

FAQ's

Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions, please contact us. Our friendly team are here to assist.

We can switch from a pendant to a comfortable wriststrap or belt clip. Coordinators can also build simple prompts into daily routines so the wearable device stays on during the highest-risk times.

We can also program the devices to be silent to avoid startling or confusion, reduce agitation and exit-seeking, and preserve dignity while our 24/7 Care Team and staff are notified immediately.

For mobile devices, we deactivate the device immediately and also dispatch a replacement to your site or the resident’s unit. You’ll get simple return instructions for anything recoverable so records stay accurate. We recommend that spare pendants for the Home Companion are kept onsite for programming into the base unit if needed.

Wipe the pendant and lanyard/wriststrap with standard hospital-grade disinfectant wipes that are non-abrasive and alcohol-safe. Avoid submerging mobile devices. For shared areas, include Help Buttons in your regular environmental cleaning schedule.

Yes. A single in-home base can be paired with multiple pendants or wriststraps. Each wearable has its own ID so our Care Team knows which resident placed the alert and follows the correct response plan.

In-home systems are designed for use in and around the resident’s unit. For movement between buildings or off-site walks a mobile SOS pendant is required so alerts reach the Care Team wherever there’s suitable mobile coverage.

We work with retirement villages and other organisations on a case-by-case basis. Some partners prefer to purchase equipment outright and pay ongoing monitoring, while others choose a rental model. Both options are available and we’ll discuss which structure suits your village’s budget, contract requirements and preferred way of managing assets.
