Earlier this week, the Federal Government announced that 10,000 senior Australians will receive taxpayer support to stay in their homes for longer.

This is part of a $1 billion investment in the most recent budget update, on top of the $1.6 billion investment announced in the October budget update, which promised to deliver another 26,000 home care packages.

As of late last year, 152,000 older Australians were receiving in-home care.

Meanwhile, another 102,000 Australians were waiting for their home care package.

Since then, the Government has contributed another $3.3 billion to release an additional 50,000 home care packages.

According to the Government, these additional packages will increase the number of seniors receiving in-home care to 195,000 by the middle of 2021.

If you’re a home care package provider or are someone who is considering a home care package for yourself or loved one, you may want to consider an APERS Emergency Medical Alert Alarm as part of that package to provide care when it is needed most.

Medical Alert Alarms provide swift and quick assistance if someone needs help in an emergency situation, which can improve someone’s confidence, and let them stay at home by themselves for longer.

In the event of an emergency, simply pressing the large emergency button on the medical alarm sends a signal straight to our 24/7 APERS Care Team, letting them know that there is an emergency.

A member of the APERS Care Team will then directly contact the user through the base unit of the Medical Alarm to determine what assistance is required.

Depending on what help is required, the member from our Care Team can contact a family member, friend, neighbour, or emergency services.

At APERS, we provide 24/7 monitoring Australia-wide, which ensures that we are there and available at all times, no matter the situation or time of day.

We currently monitor medical alarms for many providers of in-home care packages, as well as for end-users.
