Your Pacemaker and Personal Emergency Response Systems

There are many devices on the market that allow seniors to live on their own and maintain independence, but only some with options to accommodate those with pacemakers.

Our Personal Emergency Response Systems are designed to provide a high level of safety and peace of mind for you and your loved ones. Alongside our monitoring services, they are tailored to suit the user’s requirements. Each year over 600 000 people worldwide have pacemakers implanted. However, these devices have been known to experience interference when other devices nearby transmit wireless signals. As a result, people with pacemakers are unable to use some of the Medical Systems available on the market, but APERS has the solution!

At APERS, we understand that emergencies can occur at any time, both in and outside the home, which is why we have introduced our APERS Go Pendants | Mobile Emergency Pendant | APERS Australia

If you have a pacemaker, you may not be unable to wear your Medical Alert Alarm around your neck due to possible interference with your pacemaker. However, you can attach your device to a broach or wear it around your wrist like a watch. If you have a Go Pendant, it can be clipped on to a belt or your keys with the supplied split ring, or just kept in your pocket. Even though the likelihood of encountering an interference is low, we recommend that your Personal Emergency System is kept at a minimum distance of 25cm away from your pacemaker at all times. At APERS, we are aware that pacemakers may be sensitive and understand the fear people may have if a device were to interfere with their pacemaker, which is why we have been extra cautious in ensuring that our clients are aware of how to manage pacemakers and medical alert alarms.
