The APERS Pearl Fall Detection Pendant is a specialised personal help alarm that includes automatic fall detection for hard falls. The Pearl Fall Detection Pendant achieves this through a set of comprehensive algorithms.
When a hard fall is detected, this medical alarm pendant looks for significant movement. If large amounts of movement are detected, the alarm is automatically cancelled. If activated, the Pearl Fall Detection Pendant sounds a warning beep, signifying the alarm is being sent to the Base Unit. Alternatively, users can press the large emergency button on the pendant to get help.
This personal response system has four different settings that can be tailored to end-user requirements, including settings for people with epilepsy, cognitive disabilities, and high-risk frail users.
As the device is small and lightweight (< 12 grams), wearing the Pearl Fall Detection Pendant is unobtrusive and discrete. The Pearl Fall Detection Pendant requires a base unit to operate.

The Pearl Fall Detection Pendant can automatically detect a heavy fall, or the emergency button can be pressed for help. You then receive fast emergency assistance.
The Pearl Fall Detection Pendant will connect to the Base Unit, which will transmit an alarm to our 24/7 Monitoring Service Care Team, who will then open a two-way voice channel to the Base Unit to determine what assistance is required.
Our Care Team will notify a designated emergency contact or emergency services. Our Care Team will also stay on the line until help arrives.

How does the fall detection work?

Does it pick up every type of fall?
The Pearl Fall Detection Pendant is designed to detect most heavy or sudden falls using advanced motion and impact sensors. While the technology is highly reliable, no fall detection system can guarantee 100% accuracy. The slow slides, gradual collapses, or falls that occur while sitting or leaning may not always trigger the automatic alert. For this reason, it’s important to press the emergency button whenever possible if you need help, even if the pendant doesn’t automatically activate.
Can I wear it in the shower or bath?
Yes. The device is waterproof and designed for continuous wear, including while bathing or showering.
How long does the battery last?
The Pearl Fall Detection Pendant battery typically lasts up to 2 years, depending on use and testing frequency.
Can I replace the battery myself?
No. The pendant is a sealed unit to maintain its waterproof integrity. When the battery reaches the end of its life, the entire unit should be replaced.
What happens if I bump the pendant and it thinks it’s a fall?
You’ll hear a warning beep before the alarm is sent. Simply shake the pendant to cancel the alert if you don’t need assistance.
